The pros and cons of parquet wood flooring

Parquet wooden flooring adds a beautiful, warm and cozy feeling to any home. It’s the natural colors they give to your living space, the way they feel when you walk on them literally feels homey in a sense. Unlike other floorings like ceramic and tiles, they always feel so cold and somehow stiff. Wooden flooring is always a win for us and we’re here to tell you the pros and not so much cons because the pros are always higher.

We’ll start by mentioning the pros of parquet wooden flooring and list down the different types of parquet flooring out there because that’s where most of the cons fall.

The first question you want to ask yourself is what are the types of parquet flooring out there and which one is the right type for me? We won’t go into details about all types of parquet we’ll keep our focus on two types that we considered to be the best quality out there. The focus will be on Wooden parquet flooring because other types out there would be PVC and ceramic that mimic the look for wooden parquet flooring but it ain’t fooling nobody. PVC isn’t really a good idea because it isn’t very durable and definitely not long lasting. PVC stands for Polyvinyl Chloride flooring, it’s basically plastic. It might give you the look of wooden flooring it depends on the quality of it because PVC also comes in different qualities. That’s why we vote for natural wooden flooring because the materials don’t really differ that much and they’re considered cleaner.

Let’s stick to our Wooden parquet and get started with the pros of having it in your home.

The first pro would obviously be the beautiful touch it adds to any living space your have in your home. It adds warmth, coziness and somehow adds life to your home, the colors are just so natural and lively. It can even be installed in intricate designs it’ll give you such a captivating finish.

Wooden parquet is the easier type of flooring to care for, it’s very easy to clean all you need to do is wipe it down with water and if you’re feeling extra hygienic add a few drops of Dettol and you’re good to go. Parquet doesn’t handle harsh chemicals and that’s the beauty of it, literally the easiest thing to clean up. You can also get yourself a steam mop and it’ll do both wiping and disinfecting at the same time.

Third pro is that it’s long lasting, if you take good care of it it’ll stick around for the years to come. Make sure you take good care of it, wooden parquet is pretty durable. Just make sure you prevent humidity in the house and moisture so it wouldn’t get ruined.

Before we get to the cons we just wanted to mention the two types of parquet that are considered to be the best materials out there. First would be the natural wooden parquet that the previous pros were meant for. The second one would be SPC that’s short for Stone Plastic Composite, this type of parquet also has wood mixed in there but the stronger materials like stone and plastic are taking a bigger space in the mix to give it more durability and we’ll explain after listing down the cons of wooden flooring.

The first con of wooden parquet would be that it’s not scratch resisting and we don’t mean that it’s easy to scratch but it can still get a hit from small sharp objects around your home. So be sure to always be careful while cleaning and moving furniture around because once scratched it’ll be really difficult to repair.

Second con is that it can be damaged by humidity or moisture. You just need to make sure the rooms that have wooden parquet installed aren’t damp, never let water sit on the surface of the parquet make sure to wipe away any source of water right away or else it’ll get ruined.

Not much cons but all you have to do is take care of your flooring to keep it for as many years to come. Now let’s go back to the SPC flooring and the reason we mentioned it is because if you wanted to skip the cons you should consider installing this SPC flooring because its like you’re going for the wooden flooring but taking the upgraded version of it. It’s way more durable, it’s water resistant, heat resistant and did we mention it’s 99% anti bacteria! SPC flooring is an amazing option if you do decide to install parquet in your home you will not regret that decision.
